Commemoration for the Year of Canada and Korea Cultural Exchanges

In celebration of the “2024-25 Year of Korea-Canada Cultural Exchange,” OIS ART OF CANADA (Chairperson Jenny Lee), with support from the Korean Cultural Centre Canada (Director Sungyeol Kim) and the Overseas Koreans Agency (Commissioner Sangdeok Lee), is proud to present the Korean-Canadian Young Artists Exchange Exhibition, Ongoing. The exhibition will take place at Dignam Gallery (23 Prince Arthur Ave., Toronto) in downtown Toronto from Wednesday, October 9, 2024, to Tuesday, October 22, 2024, fostering a meaningful foundation for cultural and artistic exchange between Korea and Canada.

As part of the Korea-Canada Youth Exchange Promotion Project, this exhibition will feature a total of 34 participants, including students from art universities and emerging young artists from both countries. It represents the first-ever art exchange exhibition between young artists from Korea and Canada. The exhibition will showcase a diverse range of artwork, including paintings, sculptures, and drawings, highlighting the creative talent of the next generation poised to shape the future of cultural and artistic expression in both nations.

Additionally, a collaborative live painting show titled Harmony in Art by participating artists will be held during the opening reception on Friday, October 11, from 5:00 to 8:00pm.

Furthermore, this event will offer a unique opportunity to introduce the diverse artistic worlds of Korea and Canada to the Canadian public, promoting a deeper understanding of creativity and cultural diversity. By engaging the next generation of artists, the exhibition is expected to further strengthen the bonds of friendship between the two nations.

About OIS ART OF CANADA

OIS ART OF CANADA is a non-profit organization established in 2018 with the purpose of fostering exchanges and understanding of creative culture and arts between Korea and Canada. It seeks to promote active exchanges between artists from both countries through exhibitions and a wide range of artistic activities.

In addition, we promote cultural and artistic trends in both South Korea and Canada through various arts and culture events, including collaborative exhibitions, performances, and traditional arts workshops. Through these initiatives, we aim to build an international network of artists, arts organizations, and art lovers.

OIS ART OF CANADA offers a variety of cultural and artistic programs aimed at providing opportunities for diverse communities in Canada to understand and share the cultural and artistic heritage of each community. The organization was established with the purpose of promoting ties and fostering the development of cultural and artistic exchanges between Canada and Korea.
