Artspace Peterborough is excited to present The Mornings in Reverse, an exhibition by José Andrés Mora, from Saturday, March 12 to Saturday, May 14, 2022.

The Mornings in Reverse invites us to consider the relationship between memory and anxiety through the lens of reflection.

Through light, text, and landscape, Mora creates contemplative and uncertain circumstances for audiences. By engaging our desire to decode, translate, and understand, the work in this exhibition shifts us into uneasiness, imparting feelings of dislocation and displacement.

The Mornings in Reverse will include a forthcoming digital publication with an essay by Camila Salcedo. The exhibition is made possible through support from the Ontario Art Council Exhibition Assistance program.

José Andrés Mora (Toronto, Ontario) is a Venezuelan-Canadian artist who creates work in interdisciplinary media that reflects the intimate politics of language with a particular focus on experiences around displacement, cultural hybridity, and assimilation.
