I had been working with torn paper and charcoal for a couple of years. Then in the summer of 2017 my husband and I stayed in Métis-sur-Mer , a small coastal village in the Gaspé. While walking along the rocky shoreline I realised I was walking on the perfect subject matter for the materials and techniques I had been exploring in my studio. I took many photos from many different angles; these photos became the reference images for the drawings that would make up my next body of work. Very quickly the reference images faded as each drawing developed and started to have a voice of its own. That voice is Shorelines.
