The Fine Arts Department at KPU offers certificate, diploma, and Bachelor programs with a strong curriculum focusing on the ideas and techniques of producing contemporary art within a diverse and supportive liberal arts environment. This dynamic program focuses on the integration of studio work with theory and research. Our graduates are prepared with the necessary skills to pursue advanced Fine Arts studies, enter related fields, or pursue a contemporary professional practice. POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Department of Fine Arts at Kwantlen Polytechnic University invites applications for a Regular 50% position in Painting and Drawing commencing September 1, 2022. The position will consist of a minimum of four instructional sections from the following:

  • FINA 1100 – Introduction to Drawing
  • FINA 1106 – Drawing for Design
  • FINA 1200 – Drawing II
  • FINA 2300 – Advanced Drawing I
  • FINA 2400 – Advanced Drawing II
  • FINA 1110 – Introduction to Painting
  • FINA 1210 – Painting II
  • FINA 2310 – Advanced Painting Studio I
  • FINA 2410 – Advanced Painting Studio II
  • FINA 1166 – Colour Theory and Practice
  • FINA 1167 – Visual Language: Making and Meaning

Courses may be scheduled in any of the three terms during the contract year, at Surrey and/or Richmond campuses.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful candidate will have an MFA, a current exhibition record, and experience in post-secondary teaching. Applicants will have the interest and ability to teach foundation and advanced courses at the undergraduate level. They will also have technical and safety knowledge of materials, processes, and equipment.

  • 10-15 examples of recent work (a PDF that includes a link to an online portfolio showing examples of recent work is preferable)
  • a list of three professional references able to comment on your teaching ability and academic accomplishments.
