Two Opportunities at Images Festival
As we prepare for the 2026 edition of Images Festival, we’re excited to invite applications for two opportunities: Curatorial Residency & Submissions Coordinator and a Curator-in-Residence.
Curatorial Residency & Submissions Coordinator
Images Festival is seeking a Curatorial Residency & Submissions Coordinator to support the pre-production phase of the 2025–2026 Curatorial Residency Program and the submissions review process for the 2026 Festival.
This short-term, part-time contract focuses on curatorial facilitation, artist-centered communication, and submissions logistics. Reporting to the Programming Director, the role supports the onboarding and project development of Curators-in-Residence, and coordinates the review of artist submissions. The contract concludes in late December, as festival production enters its next phase.
This position is ideal for someone highly organized, collaborative, and motivated, who thrives in a facilitative role and is energized by experimental moving image culture. We’re looking for a clear communicator who enjoys working alongside critically engaged artists and curators. Flexibility with scheduling—including some evening and weekend availability—is essential, as the role involves ongoing engagement with Curators-in-Residence.
Contract Term: September 15 – December 19, 2025 (Approx. 15 weeks)
Schedule: Approx. 3 days/week (21 hours/week)
Rate: $26/hour
Location: Hybrid – remote and in-person
Deadline to Apply: August 15, 2025
Early applications are encouraged. Interviews will be conducted on a rolling basis.

Curator-in-Residence
For the first time, one Curator-in-Residence will be selected via open call to join our 2026 Curatorial Residency. The selected curator will develop work in response to the festival’s forthcoming theme and curate a minimum of two screenings, drawing from submissions received through our open call.
The residency includes a curatorial honorarium, a dedicated programming budget, and full administrative and production support from the festival team—including in-person submission review sessions, artist contracting and payment, media QC, venue coordination, communications and outreach, editorial support, and more. The resident will be supported by the Curatorial Residency & Submissions Coordinator and will have access to the Images Festival archive, office, and shared spaces at 401 Richmond.
Curators-in-Residence will work independently while also engaging in dialogue and mutual support with the cohort. While curators may develop distinct programs, shared discussion and feedback are a valued part of the process.
Applicants must be available for in-person submission screenings (approx. 800 short films of varying lengths) and present in Toronto throughout October and November. The residency runs from October 2025 to May 2026.
We invite applications from mid-career to established curators or programmers with demonstrated experience in experimental moving image practices, a developed body of work, and a record of public programming.
Festival Dates: April 2026 (exact dates TBC)
Deadline to Apply: August 22, 2025
