Experience CONTACT’s 29th Edition, taking place from May 1 – 31, 2025 throughout greater Toronto.

Visit contactphoto.com for information on 150+ exhibitions and programs in this year’s Festival.

CONTACT is the Toronto-based Festival dedicated to exhibiting, analyzing, and celebrating photography and lens-based media. The Festival provides numerous opportunities to experience a diverse range of exhibitions across greater Toronto, and a wide range of events including receptions, artist talks, workshops, portfolio reviews, the CONTACT Photobook Fair (May 3), and more, forging creative connections and sparking community engagement.

The Core Program features exhibitions and public art installations highlighting projects by Canadian and international artists and photographers, developed both independently and in partnership with local and international arts and cultural organizations. This year, lens-based and mixed-media artists continue to explore relevant and timely subjects and practices including decolonization, community-building, activism, protest and revolution, personal and collective memory, gaps in historical and contemporary archives, and a return to experimentation from the medium’s beginnings. These projects are complemented by artist and curator talks, panel discussions, and exhibition tours throughout the month.

The festival’s Open Call program comprises over 100 independently artist- and community-organized exhibitions across the GTA. From young students representing the next generation of image-makers to career retrospectives from life-long image-makers, these grassroots exhibitions demonstrate a passion for the medium in all its forms.

The 2025 printed Festival Guide will be available in late April at the CONTACT Gallery and select participating venues. For up-to-date information on festival programming, please continue to visit contactphoto.com and follow @contactphoto on Instagram.

All of the Festival’s exhibitions and programs are free of charge and open to the public (with some exceptions at major museums). CONTACT endeavours to make the Festival inclusive and accessible to all, however, due to the community-generated nature of some elements of the Festival, not all venues are able to accommodate specific accessibility needs. Contact us or specific venues for any enquiries. Please respect and plan for masking precautions at participating venues.
