About the Canadian Arts Management + Governance Incubator

The Canadian Arts Management + Governance Incubator program is a free online workshop series open to emerging and aspiring Canadian arts sector workers and board members connected to groups or organizations with annual budgets under $1 million.

This workshop series is ideal for people working as or aspiring to be paid staff or volunteer board members in small- to medium-sized arts organizations. This series is targeted to the visual and media arts, but will accept participants from other arts disciplines.

This workshop series will be held in English.

This incubator program is a series of Zoom-based workshops running eight Wednesdays from May to August, 2026 (3pm – 5:30pm ET):

  • May 6
  • May 20
  • June 3
  • June 10
  • July 8
  • July 22
  • August 5
  • August 19

Subjects to be covered include:

  • Organizational structures
  • Role of the board
  • Role of the Executive Director
  • Personnel management
  • Financial management
  • Grant management
  • Other areas related to management and governance in the arts

Please note this workshop series will not provide support in artistic programming development or fundraising / fund development areas.
