Theme: Who is Your Self-ie

The call for submissions invites artists to turn the lens inward and explore the breadth of human identity and expression. In an age shaped by the selfie and ever-evolving portraiture, John B. Aird Gallery encourages photographers to consider how they represent themselves through the medium of photography. Who is Your Self-ie asks artists to reflect, interpret, and reveal their own presence, whether through historical photographic processes or contemporary digital techniques. The juried works will showcase the many ways image-making can shape, question, and communicate the self.

50 artworks will be selected for two exhibition opportunities:

1. John B. Aird Gallery Virtual Exhibition:
The virtual exhibition will be promoted from May 15 to June 30, 2026 through the John B. Aird Gallery website airdgallery.org.

2. John B. Aird Gallery CONTACT Photo Exhibition (One-Day) and Awards Reception:
Art work will be exhibited for one day only on Friday, May 15, 2026, 6 – 10pm. This will be a pre-registration event.

• Where: Arts and Letters Club, 14 Elm Street, Toronto
• Delivery of Work:
  (Juried artists will receive delivery and fulfillment print lab information)
  ◦  Work will be delivered in person or
  ◦  Printed and matted at the artist’s cost (complimentary pick up and delivery).
• Three Awards of Recognition of $100 will be presented.

Who is Your Self-ie reflects the John B. Aird Gallery’s longstanding commitment to the photography community and CONTACT Photo. Through a curated online format, and in person reception this hybrid exhibition invites and showcases the excellence of contemporary photography artwork in Canada.

Submission Fee: $35.00

Juried Notifications: April 16, 2026

Eligibility & Artwork Requirements

• The exhibition is an open call to Canadian artists working in any photographic medium.
• Artists may submit two works for consideration per submission.
• Artwork created within the last two years.
• All works must be original art. Entries must not be copies or derivatives. All images of artwork must be of a professional standard.

John B. Aird Gallery reserves the right to reject images that do not meet the standard. The final decision of what is shown is made by the juror and curators. Submission fees are non-refundable.

Sales

The John B. Aird Gallery retains a 30% commission on artworks submitted for sale during the show.
