This year, the jury is looking for visual art submissions on the theme of: Art as Coping, Art as Community in Healthcare

You are invited to approach the theme broadly, and to consider various experiential and critical perspectives such as:

  • Art as coping
  • Art and community
  • Art and compassion

Visual art can be submitted in any medium, but will be represented digitally. Artists whose work is included in The Body Electric will receive $100.00 for exhibiting their work.

Initially launched during the 2014 International Conference on Residency Education (ICRE), The Body Electric digital art exhibit annually showcases an inspiring selection of art, in a range of media, including photography, drawing, painting, sculpture, and film. The Body Electric understands art as an intervention that explores, disrupts, deepens and reimagines medicine. It offers a set of practices for meaning-making, looking, and reflecting, through which we can stand in new relations with the subjects and objects of health care. More information about The Body Electric, as well as documentation from past exhibitions, can be found on our website.
