The Museum of Northern History invites artists in all stages of their career to participate in this exhibition celebrating the beauty and inspiration of birds.
Exhibition Description
The association of symbolism to objects, people, places and especially animals dates back thousands of years.
This year’s The Art of Birds explores the deeper connection to birds throughout the cultures and history of the world. From ancient myths to modern interpretations, birds have long represented everything from freedom, happiness, strength, wisdom, transformation, mystery, darkness, death, temptation, love, hope, and much more.
This exhibition will encompass diverse artwork that captures the essence of these winged creatures, showcasing their power to transcend boundaries, bridge between the earthly and spiritual, and convey profound messages. Through various mediums and styles, this display invites viewers to reflect on the deeper meanings and connections that birds represent in human consciousness.
A number of monetary prizes and honourable mentions will be awarded through various sponsors, and will be announced at the Opening Reception.
The Art of Birds – A Juried Exhibition is open to National (Canada) and International artists.
Artwork must depict a strong theme of symbolism, which can also ve conveyed throught the written description. Work will be judged on relevance to the topic, originality, artistic prowess, excellence in composition and design. All forms of birds in art from traditional to contemporary are welcome.
