The City of St. Albert is seeking Indigenous or non-Indigenous Artists, either with lived Indigenous backgrounds in Treaty 6 territory or demonstrated experience working respectfully with Indigenous partners in Treaty 6 territory, whose work could meaningfully engage with the predetermined themes of traditionally and culturally significant plants, the historic Riverlot system and the notable white spruce.
The selected Artist or Artist team will design thoughtful, interactive public art that enhances shared pathways and natural spaces. The goal is to create meaningful experiences that connect trail users with the land, its history, and the communities that steward it. By transforming parks and trails into immersive learning environments, the project will invite visitors to reflect, discover, and deepen their connection to nature while inspiring a shared commitment to protecting these vital spaces.

Eligibility
This opportunity is open to artists and artist collectives who currently reside in Canada. Qualified artists will have proven experience developing public artworks within the natural environment. Those considering applying should note that any travel and accommodation expenses will come out of the overall artist budget.
Timetable
The timetable is tentative and may be changed by the City at any time.
- Submission Deadline: September 4, 2025, at 2:00pm MDT
- Anticipated Project Start Date: October 15, 2025
- Project Completion: Fall 2026 – Spring 2027
