The Art Gallery of Mississauga (AGM) invites emerging and established artists living and working in Ontario to apply to its Juried Show of Fine Arts. Our deadline is quickly approaching!
Xiaojing Yan is a Toronto-based Chinese Canadian artist who embrace her sense of having a hybrid identity. Her work unites the past and the present, encompassing culture and nature, art and science. Most recently, she has had solo shows at Hermès Maison, Shanghai, China; Richmond Art Gallery, BC, Canada; Chinese American Arts Council, NYC; Suzhou Museum, Suzhou, China; and Varley Art Gallery, ON, Canada. Yan has also completed public art projects in Canada and China including her Zodiac sign commission (2021) and installation Cloudscape (2018) at the Royal Ontario Museum.
Kim-Lee Kho is a Brampton-based multidisciplinary artist exploring personal experience as a gateway to broader human concerns. The bi-ethnic daughter of a scientist and an artist, her process and interests combine all of those influences, in sometimes unexpected ways. Kho is a member of the Red Head Gallery collective in Toronto, and has participated nationally in numerous exhibitions, residencies, and mentorships. Her work was included in the 2022 Art Gallery of Mississauga group exhibition ViewFind[Her], curated by Fausta Facciponte.
Mark Crofton Bell completed his undergraduate studies at OCAD University and received his Masters of Fine Art from Chelsea College of Art in London, UK. He has exhibited extensively across Canada and internationally, including solo exhibitions at The Art Gallery of Ontario and Mercer Union. Bell has also exhibited at Paul Petro Gallery and Jessica Bradley Gallery. He is the recipient of numerous grants and awards, and is represented by General Hardware Contemporary in Toronto. Bell is one of the founding members of the artist collective Painting Disorders.
Selected artists will be notified the week of Monday, August 8.
Selected art must be delivered between Thursday, August 25, and Saturday, August 27, within AGM open hours (Thurs/Fri 10 – 5, Sat 12 – 4).
Art must be collected between Wednesday, October 26, and Thursday, October 27 between 11am and 5pm.
Opening Reception and Awards Presentations to take place at the AGM (subject to provincial health guidelines) Thursday September 15, 2022 from 6–9pm.

AGM Curator’s Choice – $250
All successful artists will receive an exhibition fee of $100
ENTRY FEE: $45
PAYMENT: Non-refundable entry fees are payable through the online application.
TERMS OF ENTRY:
Applications are only accepted electronically and should be sent through our online form.
Artists may submit 1 recent piece (completed between 2019–2022) for jurying. Open to all emerging and established artists 18 years of age and older, living and working in Ontario.
Submissions can include paintings in any medium, drawings, mixed media, fibre art and sculpture, photography, new media and video. Work must be original.
All work must be exhibition-ready. For 2-dimensional work, this includes being professionally framed with appropriate mounting hardware. NOTE: If artwork is not considered exhibition ready when delivered it will not be included in the exhibition.
For 2-dimensional submissions:
- Send only one digital image of the entire artwork as per the online specifications
- Maximum size of actual artwork: 132cm wide x 360cm high (approx. 4ft wide x 12ft high)
- Diptychs and triptychs must fit within these dimensions
- Please send two images (two different views) or a video of work.
Film, Video and New Media:
- Submissions must be accompanied by clear exhibition specifications and a signed model release form, if applicable.
No substitutions – only work that has been submitted and accepted by the jurors will be included in the exhibition.
Works sold are subject to 20% commission to the AGM.
Application entry fee is not refundable.
The AGM reserves the right to decline a submission deemed unsuitable for the show – this includes work that is not dry, not properly framed, work created with assistance, reproductions, or copies of another’s artwork. Giclée’s of paintings are considered reproductions and are not acceptable.
Additional Guidelines for New Media Submissions:
The AGM has the following equipment available for exhibition purposes: 4 – 37” flatscreen TVs (stand or wall-mounted) and media players supporting MP4, MOV, AVI, WMV, FLV, MPG, VOB, M4V formats or supported video formats include MPEG1/2/4, H.264, VC-1, RM/RMVB, WMV9, and MP4; two Epson Powerlite 4855WU WUXGA, 3 LCD Projectors (can show 1080p native resolution), 3 Optima Pro 800p projectors (not full HD).
Shipping and Insurance:
All shipping arrangements and insurance to and from the AGM is the responsibility of the artist. Artwork selected for the Juried Show of Fine Arts will be insured by the AGM for the duration of the exhibition.
