The Red Head Gallery is pleased to announce that Get Noticed is back!

Get Noticed is a bi-annual exhibition of visual artists selected by two Toronto curators noted for actively raising the bar as leaders in the Canadian contemporary art world. Artists will be selected by Na’ama Freeman of Namara Projects and Erin Szikora, interim curator of the Doris McCarthy Gallery. The exhibition will be on view at the Red Head Gallery from December 4 to December 21, 2024. Opening celebration Thursday, December 5, from 5:30 to 8 pm.

Artists are invited to submit a single work that is a strong example of your recent practice. Size limits apply. Two-dimensional works should not exceed seven feet in height by five feet in width. Sculpture, installation and video submissions are accepted, subject to availability of space. Video submissions will require the artist to provide the equipment necessary to show.

We encourage artists not yet represented by a commercial gallery to be part of this career-enhancing event.

Submission Fees: $35 (non-refundable)
Each artist is invited to submit one artwork for consideration. Artists can submit up to 2 images of their work per submission, including details, alternate angles, etc.

There is no hanging / installation fee if your work is accepted.

Submission Requirements:

Artist Contact Information: name, email, telephone and website
Images: Up to two images for both 2D and 3D work. Two still images plus a web link (Youtube or Vimeo link) for video.
Image Format: jpeg, 2000 pixels on the longest side at 72 dpi. Files must be named: GN_lastname_title.jpg
Artwork Details to be included with image: title, size, media and year. Also, any other specific technical/equipment requirements. Please see form for full content required.
Please note we will not accept submissions outside of Canada.

The Red Head Gallery was established in 1990 and is Toronto’s most enduring collectively run art gallery. It has stood the test of time as an exhibition space as well as a collective where critically engaged, highly productive artists enjoy curatorial control over the presentation of their work. Over the past two decades more than 100 artists have been part of The Red Head Gallery and have produced over 200 exhibitions.

There are two accessible entrances to 401 Richmond. At the northwest corner of the building, a ramp leads upward from the sidewalk to an automatic entrance onto the building’s main floor that measures 34″ wide, and with a lip that measures 1″ high. The other entrance at the northeast corner is less evident but equally, if not more, accessible. The automatic door measures 34″ wide and inside has a gradual ramp downwards which leads towards the elevators.
