Call for Proposals: Indoor Mural Design at Basecamp Climbing

Project

Basecamp Climbing is Toronto’s most central climbing located only steps away from the Queen and Spadina intersection. Our climbing terrain is perfect for climbers of any age or ability & have 7,000 square feet of climbing walls with over 100 different climbing routes available.

The proposed artwork is a mural design spanning 3 floors in the grand stairwell. Although an indoor mural, it will be visible from Cameron St. entrance & passerby traffic. Dimensions of the mural wall are 34′ tall & 22′ wide. Scaffolding will be provided & working at heights certification required.

Timeline

• October 1, 2024 – Proposals due for review process
• October 20, 2024 – Artist is selected
• Fall/Winter 2024 – Mural installation period

Submission Requirements:

1. Cover Letter and Resume: Include your contact into, interest in this project & a 100-word artist bio. Include any relevant certifications for working at heights, prior relevant education, work experience, exhibition history, and awards etc.
2. Portfolio: Showcase relevant work (maximum 10 images)
3. Proposal: Renderings/sketches of the proposed mural & short text about it.
4. Budget: $15,000 +hst inclusive of all materials. Scaffolding will be provided.
