ACWR New Voices program 2022 – Call for Proposals
The Arts Council Windsor & Region (ACWR) is receiving proposals from artists across Canada and Ontario for its New Voices* billboard exhibitions for the first semester of 2022.
Four proposals will be selected by a jury composed by emerging and established artists from a variety of disciplines. The jury will be assessing the way in which the proposal challenges the notion of the billboard (expected functionality, letter restrictions, outreach, etc.) as well as the way in which it engages with its context.
Artists from all disciplines, languages and backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Priority will be given to underrepresented and marginalized voices including new generation artists, new immigrant artists, artists of colour, indigenous artists, artists with disabilities, francophone artists, and 2SLGBTQ+ communities.
ACWR is committed to promoting the exhibitions on all its social media channels and paying each artist a professional fee based on CARFAC standards.
Applications opened November 1 and will close on November 21, 2021 at midnight.

- Example of potential New Voices installation (You may use the New Voices Exhibition Planner to create your potential installation. However, you are not limited to this platform as you may create your example with whatever platform you are most comfortable with).

* The New Voices program was initiated in July 2021 as an alternative to the limitations of having access to physical spaces for displaying and encountering contemporary art. The 6×6-feet billboard is located on the external wall of ArtSpeak gallery, right on the alleyway. The billboard, which features interchangeable letters, offers the possibility to develop site-specific installations that consider the nature of the sign and the materiality of language as opportunities to reflect about our current times.
