Call for Entry: Art Gallery of Mississauga Juried Show of Fine Arts 2021

The Art Gallery of Mississauga invites emerging and established artists living and working in Ontario to apply to its Juried Show of Fine Arts. The selected artworks will be on display at the Art Gallery of Mississauga from September 3 – October 6, 2021.

APPLICATION DATE: Wednesday, August 18 at 5:00 PM

Applications should be submitted online at agm.connect@mississauga.ca with the subject heading JURIED SHOW. Submissions must include a complete application form found at artgalleryofmississauga.com/for-artists, artist biography (100-word limit), application fee, and an electronic image of recently complete work.

Images should be no larger than 1MB in JPG format (300dpi). A maximum resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels for each image. Images should be of the full work – not a cropped view. Only show the art, not the surrounding environment. Images should be labeled with your last name, first name, and title of the piece.

EXHIBITION DATES: Friday, September 3 – Wednesday, October 6, 2021

IMPORTANT DATES:
Selected artists will be notified the week of Monday, August 23.
Selected art must be delivered between Monday, August 30, and Tuesday, August 31.
Art must be collected between Friday, October 4, and Saturday, October 5 by 12:00 pm.

Opening Reception and Awards Presentations to take place at Art Gallery of Mississauga subject to provincial health guidelines. DATE TBA.

ENTRY FEE: $35 – for AGM members $45 for non-members

TERMS OF ENTRY:

Applications are only accepted electronically and should be sent to agm.connect@mississauga.ca with the subject heading JURIED SHOW.

Artists may submit 1 recent piece (completed between 2018-2021) for jurying. Open to all emerging and established artists 18 years of age and older, living and working in Ontario.

Submissions can include paintings in any medium; drawings; works of mixed media; fiber art and sculpture; photography; new media and video.

All work must be exhibition-ready. For 2-dimensional work, this includes being professionally framed with appropriate mounting hardware. Photographic work must also be framed or mounted on a rigid surface. (D-hooks and wiring must be securely attached to the frame. NOTE: If artwork is not considered exhibition ready when delivered it will not be included in the exhibition.

For 2 dimensional submissions:

• Send only one digital image of the entire artwork
• Maximum size: 132cm wide x 360cm high (approx. 4ft wide x 12ft high)
• Diptychs and triptychs must fit within these dimensions

3 dimensional/sculptural pieces:

• Please send two images (two different views) or a video of work in-site demonstrating audio, visual, kinetics as it applies to the work.

Film, Video and New Media:

• Please include work on DVD format for both video and audio (marked with length of work – run time) AND an online link to the piece for jurors to view.
• Submissions must be accompanied by clear exhibition specifications and a signed model release form, if applicable.

No substitutions – only work that has been submitted and accepted by the jurors will be included in the exhibition.
Works sold are subject to 20% commission to the Art Gallery of Mississauga.
Application entry fee is not refundable.

The AGM reserves the right to decline a submission deemed unsuitable for the show – this includes work that is not dry, not properly framed, work created with assistance, reproductions, or copies of another’s artwork. Giclée’s of paintings are considered reproductions and are not acceptable.

Additional Guidelines for New Media Submissions:
The AGM has the following equipment available for exhibition purposes. 4 – 37” Flatscreen TV’s (which can be stand or wall-mounted) and media players supporting formats: MP4, MOV, AVI, WMV, FLV, MPG, VOB, M4V. Supported video formats: MPEG1/2/4, H.264, VC-1, RM/RMVB, WMV9, and mp4. Two Epson Powerlite 4855WU WUXGA, 3 LCD Projectors (can show 1080p native resolution), 3 Optima Pro 800p projectors (not full HD).

Insurance:
Insurance to and from the Art Gallery of Mississauga is the responsibility of the artist. Artwork selected for the Juried Show of Fine Arts will be insured by the AGM for the duration of the exhibition
