Call for Curators 2022 at the Korean Cultural Centre Canada

Deadline: Friday, April 22, 2022, 5 PM (Eastern Time)

In the lead-up to the 60th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Korea and Canada in 2023, the Korean Cultural Centre Canada (KCC) opens a call for curators to submit new exhibition proposals. This call aims to celebrate our solid bilateral relations between the two countries while opening up critical dialogues to envision a closer relationship for the next generation to come.

Located in downtown Ottawa, in the same building with the Canada Council for the Arts and neighboring with the National Arts Centre and the National Gallery of Canada, the KCC Gallery provides an excellent opportunity to expose your artworks to experts and a broad audience of Canada.

Call for Curators 2022 invites exhibition proposals that focus on broader subject matters related to the discourses between Korea and Canada. Any submissions that have no relation to the subject of Korea will not be considered.

This Call accepts suggestions for all art forms, including painting, photography, sculptures, installations, (new) media arts and inter-arts. It is open to curators of all backgrounds, ages and nationalities. However, the submitted proposal must be a new one with no previous exhibition record.

All the submitted proposals will be carefully reviewed by a jury committee of Korean and Canadian visual arts experts selected by the KCC. The curator of the selected proposal will receive the KCC Call for Curators 2022 Grant of 10,000 Canadian Dollars to visualize the proposal over the summer of 2022 and exhibit it at the KCC Gallery between August and December 2022.

All materials should be submitted in English by email no later than 5:00 PM (Eastern Time) on Friday, April 22, 2022.
