CALL FOR APPLICATIONS: SPAO ARTIST RESIDENCY
SPAO is accepting applications for it’s 2021 Winter Artist residency and 2021 Summer residency.
The SPAO Residency is designed to provide mentorship, support and structure for professional photo-based artists to focus on the next level of their art practice. This 6-month residency helps artists focus on an aspect of their existing career or on a specific upcoming project. Artists are afforded the time, environment and professional consultation needed to research, experiment, and produce an on-going body of work as a professional self-directed artist.
Artists who complete the residency are offered the opportunity to exhibit their work at The SPAO Centre Gallery.
SPAO now pays CARFAC fees for the group exhibition and works with the artist to promote the exhibition every step of the way.
There are two different funding opportunities for residents: The Spectrum Bursary, which supports artists from marginalized communities, and the Jason Michaels Memorial Bursary that supports artists experiencing financial need.
SPAO adheres to all health and safety directives set forth from government agencies. Our small size and flexible programming has enabled us to continue to enhance artists careers despite the external challenges the arts sector is facing.
