Fogo Island Arts Inaugural Newfoundland and Labrador Artist Residency

Application Deadline: January 6, 2025

Fogo Island Arts (FIA) is seeking applications from artists living and working full-time in Newfoundland and Labrador. The residency is six to eight weeks in length and will take place from May – June, 2025.

FIA NL Artist-in-Residence
FIA residencies provide opportunities for artists to live and work on Fogo Island for six to eight weeks. NL artists-in-residence are provided with accommodation and studio space, a vehicle for on-island use, and a weekly honorarium for food and incidentals. Artists are responsible for their own travel to and from Fogo Island and will be provided with a travel stipend of $500. We ask each artist-in-residence to present one public talk, performance, workshop, or similar event during their time on the island residency.

Applications are welcome from contemporary artists currently living and working full-time in Newfoundland and Labrador. Artists and practitioners from a wide range of disciplines including visual art, film, new media, arts writing, curating, architecture, and design are all eligible to apply.

FIA residencies are intended for professional practitioners with specialized training, recognition among their peers, and a history of public presentation of their work in a professional context.

This new residency is generously supported by anonymous donors.

Residency Period
Six-to-eight-weeks between May-June 2025.
