2025 Winter Studio Residency at Melt Studio + Gallery

Melt Studio + Gallery is located just outside Picton in a historical air force barrack at the newly developed Base31, Prince Edward County’s vibrant new cultural destination. The gallery is managed and run by Canadian encaustic artist Susan Wallis and is the home to her encaustic working studio. The gallery’s mandate is to foster and enhance public awareness, understanding, and appreciation for the positive cultural significance of the visual arts by showcasing all levels of visual artists and artisans in their exhibitions.

Melt is currently accepting applications from interested artists to rent studio space as part of their Winter Studio Residency, taking place at the gallery throughout their winter closure from January 1 to April 29, 2025.

Rentals start at $250/month + HST. At the end of the residency, the 5 participating artists will have the opportunity to display at least one work, which will be curated into a May Group show. Each studio space is approximately 200 square feet. There are 2 closed rooms available for $300/month plus HST, and 3 spaces in the open studio area for $250/month plus HST. Heating and electricity are included. Studio hours are from 7 am to 11 pm daily, with access to a shared kitchen equipped with a microwave, coffee maker, and fridge. Water is provided in jugs for drinking. Please note that there is no onsite plumbing, but nearby porta-potties are available.

A minimum of 4 artists are required to run this program.
