Artist Material Fund (AMF) at Evergreen Brick Works

Saturday, May 27 and Sunday, May 28, 2023 | 8am – 4pm

Come get some FREE building materials, tools, equipment, and supplies at AMF at Evergreen Brick Works.

You can find lots of scrap wood, tiles, carpet, cases, Plexi, plastics, paint, household items, furniture, audio visual equipment, books, paper, crates, and bizarre exhibition remnants from past exhibitions all over the GTHA to make all your projects come to life. We’ve got it all!

What is the AMF again? Founded in 2014, AMF is a service that relocates material and diminishes waste produced in the art industry, while providing resources for artistic production. Rooted in cooperation and mutual aid, the program supports and promotes the sharing of under-used goods to realize their full and potential value, building more efficient studios. It’s an ad hoc platform that operates outside of the capitalist, consumerist model, and strives to create one viable alternative to the common issue of fiscal precarity and ecological irresponsibility. As an economically and environmentally responsible redistribution centre, the service gives raw workable material another life by collecting materials from cultural institutions across the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area, making them free and available to artists and individuals in the community.

The rules are simple:

First-come, first-served.
There is no limit to what you can take.
Take only what you need.

You don’t need to be an artist to collect material.
We’ve got lots to go around.

The AMF is a community engagement project by Suzanne Carte. It is sponsored by the generosity and energy of Evergreen Brick Works and supported by the Art Gallery of Burlington (AGB).
