Art at the Pumphouse 2022

Art at the Pumphouse returns for its 15th Year on July 30 & 31

Artists, artisans and event organizers are ‘pumped’ for the show’s return

Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON – Organizers are expecting a crowd to make their way to Niagara Pumphouse Arts Centre on August long weekend for the return of the Art at the Pumphouse. Their annual juried show and sale has been running every summer since 2006 but was cancelled in the past two years because of the pandemic. This much-awaited event will be held in the art hub of the community, a setting befitting this special celebration of arts and artists.

Various ways to participate: a virtual exhibit and in-person show

The 2022 Art at the Pumphouse features over 50 professional artists & artisans exhibiting a wide range of original works including paintings, photography, sculpture, woodwork, glass, textiles, jewellery and more.

New to this year’s event is a virtual exhibit now available for viewing until August 7th in their website. The online show allows exhibiting artists and artisans to connect with remote customers virtually; and provides a preview for the much-awaited in-person show.

“After a 2-year hiatus due to COVID, we anticipate locals and visitors from out-of-town to support the exhibiting artists and artisans from the region and beyond,” said Sandra Stokes, volunteer event organizer. “The picturesque grounds overlooking Niagara River and indoor galleries will be filled with original art for everyone to enjoy.”

Visitors are invited to stay and relax in the picnic tables on the outdoor grounds while enjoying musical entertainment. Refreshments will be available for sale from a Niagara-on-the-Lake favourite, Sweets & Swirls. Niagara Pumphouse Arts Centre will also be hosting a silent auction to raise funds for its programs.

New and returning artists participate in this year’s show

Exhibitors are happy to have Art at the Pumphouse back to show their original works. Returning for a 3rd year is professional artist and Niagara Pumphouse Arts Centre member, Cathy Peters.

According to Peters, “Art at the Pumphouse is a celebration of the creative energy of visual artists. It provides a showcase for the community and visitors to view and purchase original works of art by talented artists, in a welcoming location along the parkway and river.”

Niagara-on-the-Lake photographer, Dave Van de Laar is taking part of the event for the first time this year. “What a great opportunity to showcase my photography to the community alongside other amazing artists,” said Van de Laar. “I always find pleasure in sharing my photography with others and imparting the experiences I had while taking the photos. This event is a great opportunity to do that.”

The in-person Art at the Pumphouse Show and Sale is on July 30 & 31, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. Admission for adults is $5, and children are free to enter. Niagara Pumphouse Arts Centre is located at 247 Ricardo Street, Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON.
