Kim Newport Mimran and Joe Mimran are opening the doors of a new gallery and artistic hub called the Cultural Goods Gallery. The first exhibition of the gallery titled FROM SAMO©… TO SAMO©… EVOLUTION OF STREET: ART & TYPE will highlight the work of New York-based artist Al Diaz. The show opens to the public on October 29th and ends on December 17th. Curated by Grace Zeppilli and Jason Halter, the exhibition features a collection of work spanning Diaz’s forty-year career, from his early-teen graffiti collaboration with Jean-Michel Basquiat to his later prolific text-based collage works.

This exhibition also includes new artworks by Toronto-based artists Javid Jah, Danilo Deluxo McCallum, Nicolas ‘Alfalfa’ Sanchez, and Kizmet, whose unique & distinct styles express the multifarious evolution of street art that is flourishing in cities all over the globe, including Toronto.

FROM SAMO©… TO SAMO©… EVOLUTION OF STREET: ART & TYPE, will open with an artist talk on Saturday, October 29th at 1:00 PM. Renowned curator David Liss and Al Diaz will be discussing the past and present of graffiti art. Guests are welcome to join the Mimran’s for the talk and enjoy complimentary beverages to toast the artist.
