Glazed ceramic, printed insert, cardboard box
8 x 5.3 x 5.2 cm
Edition of 60, varied

Tortoise Egg aims to cultivate viewers’ connection with nature and consideration of interspecies relationships. The small form, evoking what is yet to be born, encourages care now for what is to come. Universal and ancient as a site of anticipation, protection, and nourishment, the egg has numerous interpretations, stories, and histories from different cultures. It has many references to life and cannot escape its inherent fragility. This edition is meant to function as a reminder that all our everyday decisions impact the Earth’s natural environment.

Eunice Luk (b. Hong Kong, 1988) is a multidisciplinary artist based in Toronto. Luk’s work explores common affects found across cultures and landscapes and draws inspiration from the natural environment. Luk’s work has been shown at The Embassy of Canada Prince Takamado Gallery (Tokyo), The Walter Phillips Gallery at the Banff Centre, Printed Matter (New York City), and Critical Distance (Toronto). She is the proprietor of Slow Editions, an art publishing imprint of artist books and multiples.

Charitable tax receipts are issued by C The Visual Arts Foundation (charitable no. 88643 1162) for the portion of an auction art purchase in excess of their estimated market value, and for tickets, less $50 per attendee. Participating artists will also receive a portion of the sales. Please read the full terms and conditions.

72 Perth Avenue is an accessible AODA-compliant building.
