  1. Birds

I had my husband build me a platform bird feeder that I can see out my kitchen window. Spring is an especially exciting season, as many migrating birds pass through my area – some appearing only once a year for a short time. One of my highest accomplishments is being able to feed the chickadees in my backyard out of my hand.

  1. Preparing for our baby

I am currently over seven months pregnant with my first child, and the nesting phase is in full effect. I try to focus on enjoying my pregnancy experience and the ever-changing symptoms, sensations, and emotions.

  1. Practicing/learning family recipes

It has been an adventure – from learning my mom’s famous dinner rolls to attempting my husband’s nonna’s meatball recipe. I definitely mess up recipes on a regular basis, but I keep trying. Every couple of weeks I make my mother-in law’s granola recipe, and it turns out differently each time. Next on my list is learning her pancake recipe.

  1. Spring

Spring is my favourite season. I am looking forward to snow melting and the arrival of flowers like tulips and crocus. I also have a tradition of watching the 1936 short animated musical To Spring by Harman & Ising. This whimsical cartoon depicts the battle between the end of winter and the beginning of spring. Watch this strange video on YouTube, and you will find yourself saying, “It’s time for spring, I say”.

  1. My husband/collaborator

My unofficial art collaborator, climber of ladders, supporter of dreams, bringer of treats, enjoyable to look at, jankiest of jankers.
