Celebrate new exhibitions and installations at Gladstone House, part of the DesignTO Festival. While machines and technology can increase accessibility, allow for creative exploration and expansion, and connect us, there are also concerns that they can be alienating, replace human labour and contribute to overconsumption. Artists Giorgio Cecatto, Laura Heaney, Paola Poletto, Christopher Rouleau and Caleb Saraby Sandblom explore our complex relationship with machines.

Plus meet the hotel’s new Resident Artists – Tyler Burey, Vishwa Patel and Emaan Shaikh – in the Art Studio.

This event is free to attend and open to all ages. Cash bar available.

Continue the party in Cassette at Gladstone House, with DJ Moon Hymn from 8:00 – 10:00pm.

A one night silent art exhibit where we will be physically present, but our connection will be digital. This immersive event is inspired by Laura Heaney’s Screen Time coloured pencil drawings of people lit by their digital devices. You will find Laura stationed in the centre of the room as a performative part of the exhibit, engrossed in her phone and the group Whatsapp chat that all audience members will be invited to join upon arrival, refraining from any and all interpersonal interactions. Musician-collaborator Bay Mud will create a live, responsive digital soundscape.
