Zozobra is a Spanish word for distress. Suture Zone invited artists from across the world, reacting to the political and social times we live in, to submit to this online exhibition. 27 artists from around the world, have answered this call to step up and fulfill their duty as harbingers of truth and guardians of cultural history. Zozobra drives a voice of energy and anger, stinging the eyes of illusion and self-deception. The term zozobra has been used to describe a specific form of existential anxiety related to uncertainty and ambiguity, due to the ongoing influence of the United States electing Donald Trump and his actions towards historic allies and generational foes.

This group of socially conscious artists are reacting to and documenting the global push toward authoritarianism, fascism and war, and the effect it has on individuals, groups, societies and all life on earth.

This exhibition has no end date and holds no answers, but is a gateway to a common understanding.
