Call for Submissions: 25th Annual Being Scene Exhibition
Submission Deadline: Thursday, January 22, 2025, 11:59pm EST
The Being Scene Exhibition began over 20 years ago on the grounds of the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH). Since then, Being Scene has exhibited a juried survey of hundreds of artworks by Workman Arts member artists as well as artists with lived experience who have, at some point in their recovery, received services from CAMH. In 2018, Workman Arts introduced a smaller curated portion as part of the overall exhibit.
This year, the Being Scene exhibition will be held at 32 Lisgar Street, and will be celebrating 25 years through a dedicated public program.
The Being Scene annual Juried Exhibition serves as a platform to showcase the rich and varied talent within the Workman Arts community and artists with lived experiences across Ontario. We aim to continue brightening the city with our diverse and inclusive exhibition. This annual event is a celebration of creativity that contributes to and fosters a sense of belonging within the broader cultural landscape.
Being Scene is open to Workman Arts members and individuals who have accessed CAMH services at any point in their lives.
The deadline to submit to the 2026 Being Scene Juried Exhibition is Thursday, January 22, 2025 by 11:59pm EST. To submit, please fill out the Jotform submission form.
The jury changes each year but does consist of people who are active in the local art scene. That can be local artists and arts professionals with experience in exhibiting and curating visual arts. Jury results are expected in February 2026. Artworks dropped off and installed in March–April 2026.
The cost to submit is free. If selected by the jury you will be paid a small artist fee for letting us show your work. The amount will be in line with the CARFAC recommended fee schedule.
