Call for Submissions: Humbertown Public Art Concept

First Capital is seeking to commission an art concept or sculpture for installation within Humbertown Shopping Centre’s newly developed breezeway. This is a covered retail corridor area that is exposed to open air on either end.

Details

Looking for an artist, preferably local to the general Toronto area, to design an art piece that can be suspended from the ceiling throughout the breezeway, or at the south breezeway entrance at Lambeth Road. We are also open to incorporating the canopy on the Lambeth entrance of the property.

Project Requirements

To enhance the visual appeal of the new retail breezeway and create a welcoming atmosphere, while adding colour to the space. Design should be mindful of installation weight, exposure to elements, and required maintenance.

Breezeway Length: ~109′ 1″
Canopy Height: ~7′

Eligibility

Preferably for the artist to reside within the general Toronto area.

Compensation

$50,000 for artist fees, licensing, fabrication and installation, including electrical (if applicable).

Selection Process

All submissions will be reviewed by an internal public art panel.
