Call for Submissions – Lumière: The Art of Light 2026

Open Call for Ontario Artists

Submission Deadline: October 27, 2025 at 11:59pm ET

Lumière: The Art of Light will temporarily transform Trillium Park at Ontario Place in February and March, 2026. This free exhibition invites Ontario artists to explore light as a creative medium under the theme “Rhythms of Light: Motion, Sound, and Time.” This theme explores the relationship between light and transformation—through movement, sound, or time-based dynamics. Installations will be selected for their ability to create multisensory experiences that engage the public and reflect how light can pulse, shift, and evolve. The theme encourages a diverse range of artistic interpretations, from kinetic displays and musical influences to interactive and time-responsive works.

Submissions will only be accepted from Ontario based applicants.

All submissions must include the following information:

• Artist information, including applicant CV and biographical statement
• Concept & Design that ties into the curatorial theme including Mockup or Render
• Materials List and Technical Specifications
• Production, Maintenance and Safety Plan
• Budget
• Proof of Insurance
• Location Preference

Tips for submitting:

• Review all the criteria and info provided when building a submission to ensure all requirements have been met.
• Installations are site specific and familiarization with the site is invaluable to creating a successful proposal. Book a site tour by emailing oplumiere@ontario.ca.
