Time to get your tickets for an evening of vibrant contemporary art and community at KOAC’s annual fall fundraiser! Join us on September 6th for LOOP&PARALLEL—a special art exhibition and exclusive fine art auction that celebrates Katie Ohe and Harry Kiyooka’s longstanding influence in the arts with a special theme that celebrates their bold popularization of postmodern abstraction in Alberta. Think crisp lines, loops, and shapes, and mid-century brights. We invite you to have fun with this theme, and pull out your bold & bright fits!
The evening will include an exclusive art auction preview sponsored by LEVIS Fine Art, alongside a special exhibition curated by Ash Slemming that highlights the intertwined legacies of KOAC co-founders Katie Ohe and Harry Kiyooka. Featuring artworks that loop back to their aesthetic innovations and run parallel to their enduring impact – the exhibition also celebrates a small selection of contemporary artists whose work shares a kinship with Katie & Harry’s post-modern abstraction and playful use of form and gesture.
This event is KOAC’s largest fundraising event of the year and proceeds allow KOAC to foster the growth of visual arts; supporting educational art programs and workshops, a vibrant and inclusive artistic community, and sustaining KOAC’s ecologically significant grounds with captivating sculptures that stand as timeless testaments to the value of art & nature, together.
$100 ticket price includes catered food and drinks by Salon Catering, an exclusive preview of our fine art auction with LEVIS Fine Art, and special first-access to the LOOP&PARALLEL exhibition.
Join the celebration and enjoy an opportunity to see some of Harry and Katie’s most beloved works, not often made publicly accessible, alongside over twenty contemporary artists!
Tickets for LOOP&PARALLEL are on sale now, we hope to see you there!

About the Kiyooka Ohe Arts Centre
The Kiyooka Ohe Arts Centre (KOAC) is home to a 20-acre sculpture park and botanic garden designed as a contemplative environment to inspire creative thinking, spark imagination, and foster harmony between art and nature. The grounds are maintained as a protected wetland ecosystem, offering a unique setting where visitors can experience contemporary art in dialogue with the natural landscape. KOAC also offers year-round public programs and an artist in residence program that supports emerging and established artists in developing new work.
In the spirit of reconciliation, we gratefully acknowledge that the KOAC is situated on Treaty 7 lands which are the ancestral territories of the Blackfoot Confederacy (Siksika, Kainai, Piikani), the Tsuut’ina, the Îyâxe Nakoda Nations (Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Goodstoney First Nations) and the Métis Nation (Districts 5 and 6). We are all Treaty people and reconciliation begins with committed learning and growth toward shared knowledge and understanding.

Image Descriptions:
1) Three contemporary artworks from the KOAC Fall Fundraiser auction displayed side by side on a white background. On the left, a geometric, multi-layered piece with bold patterns in purple, pink, teal, and black. In the centre, an undulating, organic-shaped bronze sculpture with a rippled surface. On the right, an abstract painting in warm pink, red, and yellow tones with layered brushstrokes and hanging black shapes.
2) An abstract acrylic painting by Harry Kiyooka featuring curved and straight lines in red, blue, green, orange, and white scattered across a bright yellow rectangle. The yellow rectangle is bordered in pale pink and set against a vivid lime green background. The composition is playful and dynamic, with lines looping, intersecting, and flowing across the canvas.
3) The Kiyooka Ohe Arts Centre logo has four bold sans serif letters ‘KOAC’ blocked into four coloured squares; prairie sky blue, lime green, pylon orange, and tangerine yellow. KIYOOKA OHE ARTS CENTRE is centred below the blocks in all caps, in a sans serif font.
We would like to thank our auction sponsor Levis Fine Art, our catering sponsor Salon Catering, our operational grant funder Rocky View County, and our media sponsors Avenue Magazine and Preview Art Magazine.
