Call for Applications: 2026 Residencies for Artists and Writers at Vermont Studio Center

Vermont Studio Center Open Call

Applications are being accepted through September 30 for residencies in July 2026 through December 2026.

A Vermont Studio Center residency provides artists and writers from around the world with the time and space to deepen their creative practice while building a solid network of mentors and friends. Sessions run for 2-, 3-, and 4-weeks and include resident presentations, open studios, and an acclaimed Visting Artist & Writer program.

Nestled in the Green Mountains, Vermont Studio Center hosts a global community within a historic, pastoral village. The walkable campus provides private studios, dining hall, and private rooms in shared lodging along the banks of the Gihon River. Residents can explore swimming holes, hiking and biking trails, as well as the rural charm of neighboring towns, while expanding their creative potential and building a creative community.

Awards & Fellowships

All accepted residents receive a partial fellowship and 35% receive a full fellowship.

Application Requirements

Visual Artists: Submit five (5) images. You may submit previously submitted images and there are no restrictions on the age of the work.

Video Artists: Jurors will review up to three (3) minutes of video work. You may submit a single three (3) minute video or up to five (5) separate clips that total three (3) minutes.

Writers: When preparing your writing sample, adhere to the formatting guidelines in SlideRoom for the genre in which you are applying. Jurors are not required to read beyond the specified page limit. Previously published work must be submitted in manuscript form.
