Call for Artists 2025
Mississauga Festival of Trees Installations

Submission Deadline: September 1, 2025, 11:59pm EDT

CreativeHub 1352 invites artists and artist collectives/groups to submit proposals for Temporary Tree Art Sculptures and Installations to be presented at the Small Arms Inspection Building as part of the Mississauga Festival of Trees in December 2025.

Project Requirements

As part of a multi-faceted festival including artworks, live music, workshops and holiday markets, CreativeHub 1352 is seeking submissions for Tree Art Sculpture or Installation proposals for either the creation of new work or exhibition of previously created work. Imaginative and contemporary tree art installation artworks will be exhibited to celebrate the winter season. The Festival of Trees highlights Ontario’s cultural diversity, with an emphasis on the key themes of culture, environment, connectedness and community (ex. an artist of Chinese heritage might choose to create a tree installation celebrating the Three Friends of Winter by using pine, bamboo, and plum as key materials). Tree installations can be creative literal representations or a more abstract interpretation of the tree form with the focus being any of the themes.

We are looking for approximately 10 temporary Tree Sculptures or Installations. Artists are asked to create one large sculpture or installation within a 10′ x 10′ space. Consideration should be given to the aesthetic of the site, seasonal nature of the festival, and natural environment.

Tree Installations Technical Guidelines

  • Sculpture Height: min. 8′ / max. 12′
  • Installation Area: min. 8′ x 6′ x 8′ / max. 10′ x 10′ x 12′
  • The majority of accepted installations will be indoors, with consideration given to two outdoor sculptures for the external courtyard entryway.
  • This exhibition is mainly on view during the day, solely light-based sculptures requiring full darkness will not be considered.
  • Must make use of at least 40% of the 10′ x 10′ x 10′ allotted space
  • Must be a freestanding 3-dimensional structure that does not need any additional supports or can be a suspended structure that does not exceed 30 lbs.
