Learn more about the exhibition

Summer is that glorious season of warmth and sunshine that has served as a muse for artists capturing its golden light, its vibrant colours and the beauty of its lush landscapes in their work. It’s also a time to slow down, enjoy the relaxed pace of longer days and experience art. Oh to be Summering!

“Summer promises days of pleasurable languor, when we can soak heat into our bones in readiness for the next round of seasons, here expressed by the relaxed and airy spaces in the painting, Summering (1982).” – Milly Ristvedt

Summering by Milly Ristvedt, 1982, acrylic on canvas, 60 × 96 in.

Join us at Oeno Gallery for our annual summer group show. Summering is a curated collection of some of our finest contemporary artists representing an array of genres and mediums including painters, glass and ceramic artists, mixed media and more.

We are especially excited to introduce two bold new voices to the gallery. Deborah Root, an important cultural contributor whose figurative work addresses protest, war, exploitative tourism, memory, and queer theory. As well as Toni Hamel, whose surrealist paintings bring wit, emotion, and layered critique to the ordinary.

Artist Talk: Deborah Root
Wednesday, June 18, 5:30pm

Join us in the gallery for an intimate conversation with Deborah Root, who will discuss the deeply political themes at the heart of her work. Her figurative paintings offer a critical yet poetic lens on contemporary life, rooted in cultural theory and personal memory.
