Call for Submissions: Shipping Container Mural
Camp 30 – Jury Lands Foundation, Bowmanville
Submission Deadline: June 1, 2025
The Jury Lands Foundation is looking for an artist to paint a mural on the outside of a shipping container. The mural should encourage the public to imagine this site’s future positive possibilities and discourage graffiti on the container itself. This mural project will be located outdoors on the Jury Lands property close to the former cafeteria building. Located: 2020 Lambs Road, Bowmanville.
The Jury Lands Foundation is a charitable foundation dedicated to conserving and revitalizing the former Ontario Training School for Boys. The site is also popularly called ‘Camp 30 Bowmanville’ due to its wartime history as a Second World War POW camp. This summer recognizes that it has been 100 years since the reform school was opened. We are working with the Municipality and other partners to protect the property from demolition and vandalism as we raise money to restore the cafeteria building and transform it into a usable community space.
Jury Lands Foundation Mission
To rejuvenate a Canadian historic and architecturally significant site in Clarington, Ontario. This site holds international, national, and local importance as Prisoner of War – Camp 30.
