Deadline for Artist Submissions: June 1, 2025
Event Date: August 30 & 31, 2025 | 11am – 4pm

RiverBrink Art Museum is now accepting proposals for the On The ’Brink Installation Art Festival, a two-day outdoor exhibition of installation art on the beautiful grounds of the art museum, overlooking the Niagara River. This event is the second annual showcase of installation art in the heart of Niagara. Artist participants will receive honorariums of $600 each. On The ’Brink aims to celebrate the creativity and innovation of artists working in or about Niagara. The festival will provide an opportunity for members of the community to experience and learn about installation art, meet local artists and enjoy the stunning natural landscape at RiverBrink.

Theme: Monument/Memory
The commemoration of particular events and individuals in public monuments has a long history. Plaques, statues, obelisks and other markers have been erected for different reasons, function in different ways, and manifest different power dynamics. But can we say that memory is inherent in the materiality of the monument? And does this change with time?
For the festival this year, we invite proposals that engage with the idea of art-making as a mode of memory preservation, that reflect on the role of monuments in public space, that address the question of who gets heeded/represented by monuments, and/or that explore how site, materials, and form encode memory.
