Project Description
The City of Edmontonās LRT network is expanding to all quadrants of the city. Phase 1 and 2 of the Capital Line South Extension, linking Century Park to Desrochers, is a vital step in advancing The City Planās vision to increase sustainable travel options within Edmontonās mobility system. This public art opportunity is part of Phase 1 of the Capital Line South extension of the LRT line from Century Park to just north of Ellerslie Road.
The neighbourhood LRT station at Twin Brooks will be smaller in size in comparison with the multi-modal Heritage Valley North Station that will connect to the Heritage Valley Park & Ride just north of Ellerslie Road. Both stations will be located in the area known as Ward Ipiihkoohkanipiaohtsi, which is Blackfoot, and means āthe Northern migration of the bison for calving season.ā
Twin Brooks Station
The Twin Brooks station is located just north of 9 Avenue in the Edmonton neighbourhood of Twin Brooks. The community is situated between the Blackmud and Whitemud Creek Ravines and directly north of the Anthony Henday ring road.
Heritage Valley North Station
Phase 1 of the project ends just north of Ellerslie Road at the Heritage Valley North station. The Heritage Valley North station will be integrated with the Heritage Valley Transit Centre and Park & Ride to form a major multi-modal transportation hub. Nearby communities include Graydon Hill, Paisley, Macewan, and Rutherford.

Twin Brooks Station
The selected artist or artist team may conduct research and engage with the surrounding community when developing concepts. If relevant to the artistās process, preliminary ideas for research and engagement may be included in the submission. The EAC can support the artist with any engagement and consultation.
The selected artist will enter a design-only contract with the EAC and City of Edmonton.
The artist will work with the EAC and the City of Edmonton to determine the optimal locations and placement for the art glass installation, its colour palette and opacity. The artist may use up to 80% of the stationās glass panes for their artwork (see project images). The artwork will be approved by the EAC and stakeholders prior to artwork production. The artist will supply a digital file in the format specified by the glass art producer.
