Employment Type: Part-Time, Independent Contractor
Work Hours: 21-24 hours (2-3 business days per week)
In-Gallery Position: 10:30 – 6pm, Thursday & Friday, and 11 – 5pm Saturday (excluding Saturdays in January/February, July/August, and holiday weekends)
Salary: $28-30/hour
Location: Toronto

About Caviar20
Established in 2009, Caviar20 focuses on the secondary market with an emphasis on 20th-century works on paper from both Canadian and international artists. Located at 647 Dupont, the gallery also has a strong digital presence. In addition to various digital programming, we also present 3 or 4 annual exhibitions at the gallery.
Responsibilities:
Front of House
- Welcome visitors and clients with warmth and professionalism, ensuring a friendly and hospitable experience.
- Maintain a clean and organized space, ensuring the gallery is presentable during opening hours.
Digital Channel Management
- Research, edit, and/or write engaging artwork descriptions and cataloging for Caviar20.com.
- Perform regular updates to all digital channels / oversee support.
- Review inventory web pages to confirm factual accuracy and ensure inventory records are up-to-date.
- Complete administrative tasks related to various digital channels by corresponding with external e-commerce representatives.
- Supervise and sign off on the Intern’s digital updates or other colleagues’ texts/cataloging on all digital channels, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
Consignments
- Facilitate consignor relations by drafting agreements, maintaining inventory records, and arranging the receipt of goods.
- Collaborate with the Director to plan the operational execution of future programming and events.
- Monitor individual consignment expiration dates and reassess next steps, including price adjustments.
- Lead quarterly consignment meetings with an up-to-date overview of all consignments and refresh inventory as needed.
Project Management + Operations
- Support the Director with diverse administrative duties.
Collaborate with the Director to plan operational execution of future programming and events. - Liaise with team members to execute internal and external programming including onsite events/exhibitions, virtual activations, and art fairs.
- Plan and schedule photoshoots and manage post-production timelines.
- Assist the Director in overseeing the Graphic Designer and Inventory and Shipping Manager, while helping manage, prioritize, and ensure completion of daily operations.
- Assist with art fair applications and preparation and organize all marketing collateral for art fairs and off-site exhibitions.
Required Skills & Preferred Qualifications:
- Resourceful and comfortable working independently, with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Highly professional, articulate, and outgoing, with the ability to confidently welcome, engage, and assist visitors and clients.
- Proven experience with copywriting (ideally on 20th-century art/design or other luxury/lifestyle products) and comfortable writing and researching artist biographies. Note: this is not academic writing.
- Demonstrates keen attention to detail and excels in proofreading.
- General computer literacy (GSuite, image handling, macOS, etc.) is mandatory.
- Experience with Shopify or online sales channels is highly desirable.
- A degree, or minor, in Art History is recommended.
- Bilingual (English/French) candidates are preferred.
