Come check out our program and meet our current MFA cohort: Azadeh Pirazimian, Breanne Jeethan, Cree Tylee, Elise Popa, James Malzahn, Jordan MacDonald, Maddie Lychek, Paige Smith and Sandra Jabbour.
This is a unique opportunity to meet these artists on their own turf—to have a look at their process and see what’s in production. The event also coincides with an exhibition of MFA work in The Artery (Fine Arts Student Gallery) and an exhibition opening (Xiaojing Yan -Under the Pines, Over the Clouds) at UWAG. Visitors can tour the MFA studios in East Campus Hall, meet current MFA students, faculty, staff, visit UWAG, and see our facilities firsthand.

About UWaterloo’s MFA Program:
Our Master of Fine Arts program is built around studio research, practice, professional development, and pedagogical training. Studio work culminates in a solo thesis exhibition at UWAG (University of Waterloo Art Gallery). The pedagogical component includes a seminar in course development and the opportunity to teach an introductory, studio-based course. We have one of the most generous funding packages in the country, including the Shantz Scholarship.
Come Here, Go Anywhere
A unique feature of our program offers each student a fully-funded professional development experience via the Keith and Win Shantz International Research Scholarship. This prestigious six-week scholarship offers the life-changing opportunity to travel and learn alongside an artist of your choice, anywhere in the world!
