Open Call for Ontario Artists

Submission Deadline: December 8, 2024, 11:59pm

Lumière: The Art of Light will temporarily transform Trillium Park at Ontario Place in March 2025. This free exhibition invites Ontario artists to explore light as a creative medium under the theme “Neon Dreams: Light and Colour”. Artists are encouraged to create dynamic and playful installations that will bring excitement to Trillium Park through glowing, celebratory displays of light. From neon sculptures to interactive light displays, the event will offer a visually engaging, sensory experience that sparks curiosity and invites exploration.

In addition to the light and curatorial theme component – it is important to create designs that are visually engaging both day and night. While the installations will have a striking impact when illuminated, daytime visuals are essential to maintaining an aesthetically appealing atmosphere throughout the exhibition, so designs should bring dynamic shapes, interesting textures, or innovative structures that make each piece stand out in natural light. This way, installations will continue to impress visitors around the clock, keeping the exhibition lively and attractive at any hour.

Submissions will only be accepted from Ontario based applicants.

All submissions must include the following information:

• Artist information, including applicant CV and biographical statement
• Concept & Design including Mockup or Render
• Materials List and Technical Specifications
• Production, Maintenance and Safety Plan
• Budget & Funding
• Proof of Insurance
• Location Preference

Tips for submitting:

• Review all the criteria and info provided when building a submission.
• All light installations are site specific and familiarization with the site is invaluable to creating a successful proposal. Book a site tour by emailing oplumiere@ontario.ca.
• The deadline for submissions is Sunday, December 8, 2024, at 11:59pm
