Call for Submissions: Give a Little Bit, 2024 Holiday Group Show | 2025 Rental Galleries

Melt Studio + Gallery is located just outside Picton in a historical air force barrack at the newly developed Base31, Prince Edward County’s vibrant new cultural destination. The gallery is managed and run by Canadian encaustic artist Susan Wallis and is the home to her encaustic working studio. The gallery’s mandate is to foster and enhance public awareness, understanding, and appreciation for the positive cultural significance of the visual arts by showcasing all levels of visual artists and artisans in our exhibition.

Melt is currently accepting applications from interested artists to exhibit work in either their group shows or rental galleries. Please visit their website for more detailed information about open calls and other upcoming group shows.

Call for Submissions: Give a Little Bit

Give a Little Bit is an annual holiday show that features small, giftable works of art that are perfect for gift-giving.

Artists may submit up to a maximum of 3 pieces for jurying to this upcoming group show. The fee to submit is $25.00. All works must be for sale and if sold are subject to 40% commission. Please note that all submissions will be acknowledged upon receipt, but only selected artists will be notified of acceptance by the specified date.

Deadline for email submission: November 8, 2024
Acceptance notification sent by: November 14, 2024
Deadline to deliver work to the gallery: November 24, 2024

How to Apply:

If you’re interested in applying to be a part of Give a Little Bit, please send in your proposal for what piece(s) you would like to display in the upcoming group show. Please provide title, size, medium and price for each piece submitted for consideration. Please submit clear, well-lit photos of work for consideration, a brief Artist Statement related to your work’s theme and a short Bio/CV. Please note all works must be for sale.

Incomplete submissions will not be considered.

Submit your application via email to info@meltstudiogallery.com with “Artist Submission – Your name, Name of show” in the subject line.

Please be sure that your application includes your name and complete contact information: phone number, email address, website, and link to your Instagram account if applicable.

The $25.00 submission fee can be paid via e-transfer to susanwallis@kos.net.

Rental Galleries: 2025 Schedule

Melt currently has two rental galleries available for rent to artists for solo exhibitions for a flat base rental fee ranging from $700-750 + HST: the FOCUS and FORMAT galleries. The intention behind these project rooms is to provide and cultivate a supportive environment for artists to showcase their work in an inexpensive gallery space. Melt Gallery will provide the gallery attendant, handle client inquiries and transactions and promote the Artist’s work on their website and social media platforms. Duo exhibitions will be considered on a per case basis and are subject to an extra surcharge on the rental fee. Any sales made during the duration of the exhibition will not be subject to commission. While the gallery encourages artists to exhibit artworks and editions that can be for sale, it is not mandatory to exhibit in either of the rental galleries. There is no fee to submit.

Please send your detailed proposal with images to info@meltstudiogallery.com with “Rental Gallery” in the subject line. Please specify which room (FOCUS or FORMAT) you would prefer or if you have no preference. Include links to your website and social media platforms, your full contact information, and at least 3 choices from the show dates listed on the website, in order of preference.
