OCAD University Portfolio Clinics 2024-2025

Past workshop participants painting in studio

Are you crafting your portfolio? Looking to explore new art or design practices? OCAD University will be running a series of Portfolio Clinics to support young creatives this fall and winter.

These in-person full day studio workshops are designed for learners ages 15 and up interested in pursuing a creative pathway to post-secondary education. Alongside OCAD U instructors you’ll expand your artistic voice, build transferable skills, and create work for your portfolio. This will be an opportunity to try out the OCAD U student experience in the same shops and studios that our OCAD U undergraduate and graduate students utilize daily.

Interested in attending virtually? We will be running an online portfolio clinic for interested participants who cannot make it to our university campus.

Registration is currently open for our first date, October 19. Head to our site to explore all workshops in more detail. We will open registration for the remaining dates approximately one month in advance:

  • October 19, 2024
  • November 9, 2024
  • November 23, 2024 (online)
  • December 7, 2024
  • January 11, 2025
  • January 25, 2025

Intro to Fabrication: Prototyping a Toothbrush with Ellie Oram

How would you improve a toothbrush to be more inclusive? In this workshop, you will explore approaches to human centered design to create a toothbrush to fit user needs. You will make your own prototype using machine tools, hand tools, and finishing techniques to bring your design to life. You will come away with a finished object to add to your portfolio along with an understanding of the design process for mass produced consumer goods.
