Deputy Director, Museum of New, Toronto

The successful applicant will have knowledge of the contemporary art scene, as well as the ability to place important works from our collection with art dealers, auctions, or as donations to institutions as Cultural Property. This could be a commission based, freelance position without regular hours, or it could be a salaried position, depending on the applicant’s circumstances.

The museum is privately owned, currently open by appointment, located in proximity to the AGO (east of Trinity-Bellwoods Park). The Museum has organized public exhibitions since 1998. It has a considerable collection of Canadian art, and the representative collection of the international artists of New New Painting movement.

The Museum of New was founded by artist Joseph Drapell and poet Anna Maclachlan in 1998 to promote the art of the New New Painters and other similarly-minded artists. The Museum doubled in size to 5,300 sq.ft. with the addition of a second floor in 2012.
