Red Head Call for Gallery Rentals – Summer 2024

Submission Deadline: April 18, 2024, 5pm

The Red Head Gallery is one of Canada’s most respected collectives, showcasing a broad range of contemporary visual art by emerging and mid-career artists. Founded in 1990, the gallery is located in the heart of Toronto at the 401 Richmond Street West, an art hub with a vibrant community of creatives and curators.

We are looking for artists/curators who are interested in exhibiting at the Red Head Gallery as part of our 2024 Summer Program.

Available Rental Dates: July 17 – August 10, 2024

Our Rental Package Includes:

675 square feet of exhibition space
13-foot ceiling, over 80 linear feet of display wall
Illumination by adjustable LED track lighting
Office access and use of the gallery land-line (local calls only)
Zero gallery commissions on works sold!

Marketing:

A page on our website and space in our digital and non-digital archives
Social media posts to our followers (Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, etc.)
One eNewsletter sent to our subscriber list of over 1,800+
Assistance coordinating additional press, liquor license, signage and concerns

Application:

Group/individual applications must be sent as a single PDF to submissions@redheadgallery.org with the following:

Exhibition Statement & Bio(s), indicate the media, technique, theme/context of your practice
Current Curriculum Vitae (max. 3 pages)
Maximum of 5 digital images with details (group show images must represent all exhibiting artists) or 2 video links
Exhibition length (1 week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks or 4 weeks)

Rental Rates:

$1200/per week, up to 4 weeks. This includes an Administrator during regular gallery hours (Wed-Fri,12-5pm)

The Red Head Gallery was established in 1990 and is Toronto’s most enduring collectively run art gallery. It has stood the test of time as an exhibition space as well as a collective where critically engaged, highly productive artists enjoy curatorial control over the presentation of their work. Over the past two decades more than 100 artists have been part of The Red Head Gallery and have produced over 200 exhibitions.

There are two accessible entrances to 401 Richmond. At the northwest corner of the building, a ramp leads upward from the sidewalk to an automatic entrance onto the building’s main floor that measures 34″ wide, and with a lip that measures 1″ high. The other entrance at the northeast corner is less evident but equally, if not more, accessible. The automatic door measures 34″ wide and inside has a gradual ramp downwards which leads towards the elevators.
