Salon 44 is Gallery 44’s annual fundraising exhibition in support of our education and exhibition programs. Representing the best in Canadian photography, Salon 44 brings together an incredible collection of over 100 established and emerging artists with works priced for both new and seasoned collectors alike. Salon 44 is co-chaired by Maegan Broadhurst and Patricia Ritacca.

Salon 44 is an essential fundraiser for Gallery 44. As a registered charity, supporters help us deliver vital exhibitions and educational programming, and provide affordable production facilities for artists. Specifically, proceeds from Salon 44 go towards our award-winning educational program OUTREACH, an initiative that provides underserved youth with opportunities to learn about the power of photography through hands-on workshops.

By contributing to Gallery 44, you directly support local and international artists by providing meaningful opportunities to develop their practices through exhibitions, public programs, workshops and access to digital and analogue facilities.
At any level of giving, your contribution truly makes a difference. Here’s how.
$50 donation sponsors one participant to attend one photo-based workshop through OUTREACH, our award-winning education program for at-risk youth.
$100 donation assists us in keeping Gallery 44’s production facilities, including one of Toronto’s only remaining wet darkrooms, open for one day.
$500 donation supports us in delivering one photography workshop to 30 students in communities throughout the GTA.
$750 donation funds an exhibition in our Vitrines, a unique, highly visible space that supports emerging artists in developing experimental projects.
$1,000 donation subsidizes emerging artists’ travel to Toronto for Proof, our annual emerging artist reflects a range of current practices in contemporary lens-based media across Canada. Proof is often one of the first exhibitions in a professional context for an emerging artist.
$2,000 donation champions the OUTREACH Symposium, a free full-day event for underserved youth covering pertinent topics for working artist including, portfolio reviews, granting, mental health and self-care.
$5,000 donation supports the acquisition of a new digital printer for our production facility, improving the digital imaging services to member artists at all stages of their careers.
Gallery 44 is provides tax receipts for donations made directly to the gallery in the amount of $50 and over. If you donate through Gallery 44’s Canada Helps page, you will automatically receive a tax receipt for any donation amount.

Gallery 44 Centre for Contemporary Photography is a charitable, non-profit, artist-run centre committed to supporting multi-faceted approaches to photography and lens-based media. Founded in 1979 to establish a supportive environment for the development of artistic practice, Gallery 44’s mandate is to provide a context for meaningful reflection and dialogue on contemporary photography.
Gallery 44 is committed to programs that reflect the continuously changing definition of photography by presenting a wide range of practices that engage timely and critical explorations of the medium. Through exhibitions, public engagement, education programs and production facilities our objective is to explore the artistic, cultural, historic, social and political implications of the image in our ever-expanding visual world.
