The Visual Arts Centre of Clarington is pleased to present Pete Smith: Stein’s Law.
Pete Smith is an artist, critic and curator who lives in Bowmanville, ON. Smith’s painting practice often reflects his interests, concerns, and experiences. His solo exhibition at the Visual Arts Centre of Clarington will show a series of recent paintings that explore notions of climate change, pollution, urbanization, domesticity, light and darkness. The exhibition titled Stein’s Law, references the popular American economist’s theory, that if something cannot go forever, it will stop, and poses questions about sustainability in our current economic models. The exhibition will also include works of local abandoned sites in the Clarington region and will be shown at the VAC galleries as well as the Clarington Town Hall and Library.
