Off the Hook: Silent Art Auction

Friday, November 15, 7 to 11 pm

Public Preview: November 9 to 15, 2019
Free Public Tour of Auction Highlights: November 13, 6 to 7 pm

On November 15 at the MacLaren Art Centre in downtown Barrie, artworks by more than 100 artists from across Ontario will fill the galleries for the 29th annual Off the Hook: Silent Art Auction. Attendees can also bid on a selection of great prizes from local retailers. Beyond continuing to support arts education in the region and the livelihood of participating artists, this year’s silent auction asks everyone involved to reflect on the importance of water in our daily lives. The water theme will be brought to life through:

  • A Live Auction at 8:00 pm on November 15 featuring five prestigious artworks by Canadian artists who have continually dealt with the subject of water in their practice
  • An introduction to the artists involved in the Simcoe Watershed Art Project
  • Sponsorship from Ontario’s very own flow alkaline spring water
  • Inspired catering by Cravings, Michael & Marion’s, The Farmhouse and Holly’s Sweets & Eats
  • Donations from local businesses and individuals conscious of the vital importance of water

New this year is our BUY IT NOW programme! For those who don’t want to risk being outbid on an artwork, during the preview from November 9 to 15 visitors may purchase an auction artwork at full value and receive a complimentary $50 auction ticket with a bid number. Artworks sold during the preview may not be removed from the MacLaren until 10 pm on the night of the auction.

Join us for a free guided tour of the art auction highlights on Wednesday, November 13 from 6 to 7 pm led by MacLaren Curator Emily McKibbon, Kalaman+Demetriou Art Consultant and Collector Carol Ann Ryan and Artist/Curator Jill Price.
