Gary Kirkham: Sand Pendulum Performance
Thursday July 16th, 6:00PM
This performance is presented virtually on Zoom. Please register through Eventbrite.
Join us for a virtual sculptural creation with a vocal soundscape that will provide an immersive art experience. An oversize pendulum filled with sand will use kinetic energy and harmonic motion to slowly create a complex sand sculpture. While the pendulum swings, vocalists Pam Patel (soprano), Bó Bárdos (mezzo), and multi-instrumentalist Nick Storring, generate a new composition in response to the manifestation of the sculpture. Using the physics of the pendulum, the artists will explore patterns, ritual, time, and beauty. After watching the performance, the artists and Cambridge Galleries staff will discuss the challenges of interdisciplinary collaboration during the pandemic. The artists gratefully acknowledge the support of Region of Waterloo Arts Fund, Cambridge Centre for the Arts, and Multicultural Theatre Space (MT Space).
