Call for Proposals: Gate Design at Latimer Park, City of Surrey

The City of Surrey is inviting design proposals for a creative gate design for a distinct washroom facility in Latimer Park. The artist designed gate will replace the standard washroom gate and will be fabricated from laser-cut, powder coated metal.

Latimer Park is located in southeast Surrey within the Campbell Heights area. It was acquired by the city in 1965, prior to which it was an active gravel quarry that has since flooded leading to the creation of Latimer Lake. Since then, the park has been enjoyed by a variety of users to walk and cycle along the trails and historically to fish and swim. Latimer Park has seen many changes both in its use as well as in the surrounding neighborhood since its creation.

The artwork should speak to the restorative and revitalizing energy of nature.

The call is open to all BC residents.

Deadline for application: December 22, 2023

Your concept proposal should contain the following information:

• Your name, address, email and phone number
• Proposed artwork designs (Maximum file size: 10 MB)
• A short artist statement that tells us the concept of the artwork
• A short bio that tells us about you and your practice
