In celebration of the AGM’s 35th anniversary, this exhibition brings together key works by 35 artists in our permanent collection. These artworks comprise just some of the exceptional pieces held in our collection storage, including works by both local and internationally recognized artists, and feature a wide range of mediums and approaches.
The AGM first opened its doors in 1987, in conjunction with the opening of the Mississauga Civic Centre, and began acquiring works for a permanent collection in 1995. Over the years, the collection has grown through purchases and donations, and now holds more than 500 pieces. Loosely organized by acquisition year, this exhibition begins to tell a story about the AGM’s collecting history as a way to see where we’ve been and to consider what directions we should explore next.
